Swimwear can be a really hard thing to buy, so I asked Sandra for her top tips!
Me- We hear the term sustainable fashion a lot these days. What does sustainable fashion mean to you, and how does it manifest in your business?
Sandra- So sustainable fashion to me is one that actively seeks to reduce their environmentally impact through manufacturing, reducing waste, reducing water pollution. And by treated others fairly with ethical production.
More Than Swim uses a range of processes including: plastic free packaging sourced from UK businesses. Heat transferred prints so no nasty chemicals get into our fragile oceans.
All my production is in the UK to reduce our carbon footprint and I know that my manufactures have great facilities and treatment for their workers.
I also donate to 3x charities including Ocean generation that seeks to eliminate the use of single use plastic within a generation.
Me-I am interested to know why you chose swimwear? Are you a keen swimmer? Do you do wild swimming, something I’ve always wanted to try out myself?
Sandra- I choose swimwear because my degree was Contour design which means designing garment that fit close to the contours of your body. I've also made lingerie too! I learnt to swim at school too so it's a subject close to my heart!
Me- What is the one thing we should consider when buying swim wear? It can be a tricky thing to buy? What is your advice?
Sandra- Due to the close fitting nature of the fabric, I'd advise going up a size! Believe me it makes a difference.And just have fun! They say to have a bikini body, just put a bikini on!
